This website is designed to offer information on the classes that I teach in the Thanet area Whether you want to punch / dance / splash or tone up to a healthier fitter you, I can assist. Use this site to find out what classes I teach, with descriptions to help you decide which is the right class for you. About us

Hi!

My name is Gemma Girdler and I have worked within the fitness industry for the last 20+ years, working for private clubs and large chains enabling me to gain the experience and knowledge that I have. After being made redundant in 2010 I decided to start my own business running group exercise and one to one sessions in the Thanet area, hoping to help others achieve there personal fitness aims. I have always enjoyed exercise whether it be working out in a gym, taking part in a class, swimming or playing netball. I have gained various qualifications over the years and continue to develop my professional skills.

Class Types

This is to give you a description of what the classes are to help you decide which class is suitable for you, whether that is face to face in a community class or online via Zoom, from the comfort of your own home

Zumba - is a Latin inspired dance fitness class. It is an exciting hour of calorie-burning, body-energizing and awe-inspiring movements, combined with resistance training to help tone and sculpt your body while burning fat. For more information click here

Online Zumba - Latin inspired fitness class, taught via the Zoom platform lasting 40 minutes. Giving you the luxury of working out from the comfort of your own home.

Bodytone - is a class suitable for the active older adult and anybody with rehabilitation needs. It is a half and half class meaning that it is split into 30 minutes aerobic activity and 30 minutes resistance training using either hand weights, dyna bands or body resistance with the choice of being either floor or chair based.

Boxercise / Boxfit Circuit - this is a boxing based class using gloves and pads and circuit training. It is high energy and stress busting whilst burning those calories and toning the areas you want the most. For more information click here

Aqua - this is designed to give you full body workout designed to work on stamina, strength and toning using the water as resistance. The water will also help support the body meaning no stress on the joints. This class is suitable for all abilities.

Legs, Bums and Tums - a toning class designed to work the major muscle groups in the body targeting those areas you most want. This is achieved by using own body weight or additional resistance weights. Get great results from this class.

Child Swimming Lessons - Run through Ocean Swim School at Wellesley Haddon Dene on Fridays 4pm - 6:45pm or St Lawrence College on Saturdays 4pm - 6pm. All swimmers learn to swim using the Swim England Learn to Swim Stages 1 - 7. Swim Co-ordinator, Gail Crompton. Contact me for further information.

TARA (Thanet Active Retirement Association) - Zumba, Keep Fit and Fitness Pilates run in conjunction with TARA designed for the active older adult.

Fitness Pilates - Based on the original teachings from Joseph Pilates, Fitness Pilates is designed to help maintain / improve the core strength, mobilty and flexibilty of the body through controlled movements in standing, prone and supine positions. Different levels of difficulty are given to suit all levels of ability.

Online Circuits - A 40 minute circuit class, taught via the Zoom platform, taking you through a warmup and easy to follow circuit session incorporating light weights or household equipment. To help build fitness and muscle tone - really good for the older adult or if you are new to exercising.

Class prices vary please visit the price info page or alternatively contact me for further information. Please make sure you wear suitable footwear and clothing for all exercise classes and bring a bottle of water.

All classes require a pre exercise health questionnaire to be filled out proir to the class. If you are attending any class marked # download a copy and fill it in and bring it with you.

NB - Heels or flipflops are not suitable for zumba or any fitness classes.
